Thousands of roses, a Cistercian abbey and the incredible Ali Baba cave of a wealthy collector: the Chaalis estate is home to no less than 8 centuries of turbulent history in a fabulous romantic setting of ruins. From Cardinal Hippolyte d'Este, who designed the park and brought Italian artists such as Serlio or the painter Primatice there, to Jean-Jacques Rousseau whose soul still hovers in the atmosphere, passing by Nélie Jacquemart-André, the last owner of the premises: the astonishing architecture of Chaalis is accompanied by an exceptional rose garden of 3,500 m². A rallying point for thousands of enthusiasts and aesthetes each year, Les Journées de la Rose has been celebrating the queen of flowers for more than 15 years alongside horticulturists, nurserymen, rose growers, artists and craftsmen in a exceptional setting. Guided tours every day at 3 p.m. until August 31. Duration: 1h30.
