For 900 years, the Saint-Nicolas church has overlooked the Oise valley from the top of a rocky promontory, like a fortified castle. This priory church is a masterpiece of transitional art, a pivotal period between Romanesque and Gothic art. Until the Revolution, the church depended on the Cluniac monastery of Saint-Leu, today private property. Note the altarpiece representing the life of Saint-Nicolas, as well as the recumbent statue of Renaud de Boulogne, Count of Dammartin.
