The town of Senlis invites you to take a trip back in time. Senlis has some real heritage treasures, and the aim is to make them more visible. These openings are part of a real drive to create a more homogenous cultural and tourist trail across the region in the months and years to come.

Birthplace of the Capetian dynasty where Hugues Capet was acclaimed king, Senlis played a key role in the history of France.

The project Journey to the time of the first kings of France aims to promote the city's rich historical heritage by restoring them and making them accessible to the public. This ambitious project is part of the city's drive to open up to a wider public, both French and international, and to raise its profile.

The royal castle, cathedral and Gothic cellar of the former prior's dwelling (Vénerie museum) have been the subject of in-depth studies and diagnostics with a view to their restoration.

In 2026, the cellar, restoration of which began in July 2025, will host an immersive show. on the history of the town and the kings of France. In 2026, work begins on the Royal Castle will begin with restoration and consolidation work, while the work on the cathedral will be carried out.

This project has support from institutional partners and local players State including the Ministry of Culture, Region, Département, CCSSO, PNR Oise-Pays de France, Banque des territoires, Oise Tourisme, Office de Tourisme Chantilly-Senlis.
The town was one of 32 applicants for the "Cultural and Tourist Heritage" call for projects launched by the Hauts-de-France region for European ERDF funding. The town is also developing a policy of cultural sponsorship.
