Henri-Jules de Bourbon-Condé (1643-1709) carried out the last wishes of his father Louis II de Bourbon-Condé and began the construction of the first parish church of Chantilly in 1687 on a plan by Jules Hardouin Mansart. Completed in 1691, the church was consecrated in March 1692 under the name of "Notre-Dame de l'Assomption". This date marks the official founding act of the city of Chantilly. From this date, the parish registers kept by the parish priest list baptisms, marriages and burials.
