Zenga, Verlaine en dentelle" exhibition at the Chantilly Lace Museum

In silk, Zenga loves the fluidity of the material, its luminous colours and shine. Contemporary mechanical lace seduces her with its finesse and the richness of its motifs, but she breaks its regularity and repetition. What she likes to do is deconstruct the mechanics. She cuts, reassembles, reconstructs, breathing life into the elements born of industry and combining them with old lace.

Zenga's creative process is based directly on lace, on the motifs it has been offering since its birth in the 17th century; these motifs inspire the subject matter of her canvases. Flowers and leaves are transformed into bark, trunks and branches to create a poetic shift. Zenga's creations are often figurative but not realistic, to let the imagination take flight.
