The Condé Museum

The Condé Museum, the second collection of old paintings after the Louvre, presents a magnificent collection of 2 works. Poussin, Ingres, Raphaël,… dozens of painters who have made the history of art.
The Condé Museum has preserved a typical hanging from the XNUMXth century. Indeed, the Duke D'Aumale, the last princely owner, left a precise will asking that the works of Chantilly remain in place and never be sold or loaned. He hoped to keep his collection intact, and thanks to this vigilance, Chantilly is one of the most beautiful museums in France.

  • The large apartments allow visitors to admire the XNUMXth century decorations of the princes.
  • Furniture bought by the Duke of Aumale, contemporary with the decorations, adorns the course.
  • A stakeholder in large apartments, the Cabinet des Livres keeps 19 volumes, 000 manuscripts and 1 printed matter. The Duke of Aumale, a true enthusiast, inherited around 500 manuscripts from the princes of Bourbon-Condé and acquired 17, including the famous Très Riches Heures of the Duke of Berry. He thus composes a fabulous collection.
  • The library and archives of the Château de Chantilly in a few figures: 44 old books including 000 incunabula; 700 manuscripts including 1500 illuminations.
  • The small apartments of the Duke of Aumale bear witness to the XNUMXth century way of life since they remained unchanged upon the death of their owner. A real journey into the intimacy of the Duke.

Discovery of the gardens, tasting of Chantilly cream in the hamlet, playground, labyrinth, kangaroo enclosures ... the 115 hectare park includes various types of gardens: "French" garden with the large Le Nôtre parterre, English garden, Anglo garden -Chinese, wood ...

The Council in addition

We advise you to devote half a day to discovering the castle and the park.
The Grandes Écuries can be visited afterwards.
Why not extend the discovery of the Château de Chantilly with places with a historical link: the Pavillon de Manse with the hydraulic machine that supplied the water games with water, or the Potager des Princes with traces of the old garden ponds?
