If you go for a walk in the Halatte forest, you may be surprised to see the remains of a Gallo-Roman temple standing out in the thicket at the bend of a forest path!


The votive temple, which was built between 48 and 60 AD and reached its apogee in the 3rd and 4th centuries, was discovered during forestry work in 1825. The excavations in figures: - 363 ex-voto statuettes - 1,127 coins, - 18,000 shards, corresponding to around twenty vases, - 40 bronze fibulae.


You can admire these objects at the Musée d'Art et d'Archéologie in Senlis and watch a video showing the reconstruction of the temple.
