September 1914 – Chantilly, a small tourist town, is transformed into a rear-front town. In a few months Joffre's General Headquarters settled in town with hundreds of soldiers replacing the tourists and the racing public.

Chantilly became the place for all military and strategic decisions. As for the inhabitants, they gradually discover the curfew, the military hospitals and ambulances, the refugees, the camouflage workshops, the German prisoners...

So many upheavals evoked by this visit, from the Hôtel du Grand Condé to the Villa Poiret, passing by the statue of Marshal Joffre and the war memorial to discover a crucial period in our local and national history.
