Parc de l’île Saint-Maurice

Completely refurbished in 2015, the Saint Maurice Island park is a large space bordered by the two arms of the "Oise" river, in the center of Creil (just 10 minutes walk from the train station). Free access 7/7 and 24/24 by the rue de l'île or by the alley of the pottery and the Nelson Mandela pedestrian bridge, rue Jean Jaurès. A place of relaxation and leisure, there is now a playground for children and picnic tables. Wooden lounge chairs are scattered throughout the park to enjoy the sun or rest in the shade. For sports enthusiasts, there is also a basketball court, and a running and rollerblading track. Explanatory panels have been installed around the park to raise awareness of the fauna and flora present. Animations take place in the summer on the large lawns: the Feast of associations and the Creil Colors Festival (in June) as well as "Creil Bords de l'Oise" (in July-August). Every summer, the Tourist Office organizes small cruises on the Oise departing from the island. The rowing club regularly offers initiations to take advantage of the calm of the river. The banks of the Oise are authorized for fishing, for holders of a card. The town of Creil being part of the Regional Natural Park "Oise Pays de France", the nature guide Annie Ocana can offer educational outings or group visits to discover the banks of the Oise.
